Research Assistant Work: Prototyping and Grasshopper
- As a research assistant to Marc Swackhamer, I have been working on a variable vacuum form mold for the past year. Starting with developing a grasshopper model, this prototype is now in production. The system uses height adjustable hexagon bars within a vacuum form box to create multiple forms of changing shape. In the actual production, the heights are adjusted with a stepper motor in order to ensure the final shape conforms to the earlier computer model.
